Jahan Marcu, Ph. Dr. Jahan Marcu, Ph. The International Association for Cannabinoids as Medicine (IACM) has him on its Board of Directors. His Ph.D. was awarded for his significant contributions to the understanding of the structure and functioning of the CB1 receptor and the role played by the endocannabinoid systems in bone. Dr. Marcu was a researcher at the California Pacific Medical Center Research Institute, where he studied the anti-cancer effects of cannabis compounds (Published by the Journal of Molecular Cancer Therapeutics), and worked on Dutch Cannabis research projects. His work has been featured in Forbes, Vice and Nature, Nature, Philadelphia Inquirer and CannabisNow. He also blogs at freedomisgreen.com, Freedom Leaf Magazine, Washington Post, and many other media outlets. The American Herbal Pharmacopoeia Cannabis Monograph is also his work. Dr. Marcu is a member of numerous trade association and expert committees as well as scientific organizations such AHPA and ACS. Dr. Marcu was awarded the Billy Martin research prize by the International Cannabinoid Research Society. He is a court-qualified expert in synthetic cannabinoid extraction and cannabis.

Due to the purported medicinal benefits of CBD and other components of cannabis, there is a growing demand from patients and consumers for products that contain cannabidiol. The United States’ medical cannabis industry is dependent on quality control laboratories for important ancillary services. The industry is constantly developing methods for cannabis analysis. This is due to the increasing demand on laboratories to provide accurate results in a timely manner and at a reasonable price.
This presentation will cover the various methods of extracting cannabis to make different products. It will also discuss the impact of sample preparation and analysis on labeling these products. The accuracy of the labels and results from analysing cannabis products will be discussed. The data from the analysis of cannabis extracts, concentrates and samples will be shared. As a possible solution to the public health problems facing the cannabis industry, we will also discuss the role of training and third-party product certification.
